Our Conveyancing & Real Estate practice group boasts extensive experience in providing strategic and practical advice to both local and international clients on land acquisition and disposal, conveyancing, commercial and residential development, leases, licenses, project financing, and complex project structuring through joint ventures.

  • We have acted for clients in the following broad areas of specialty:
  • Sale and purchase of property;
  • Replacement of lost or destroyed certificate of title/ Lease

The intricacies of buying and selling land in Kenya pose significant risks. Without proper due diligence, there is a risk of purchasing property with multiple title allocations or tainted ownership chains due to fraud or illegality. At WKA Advocates, we possess in-depth knowledge of prevailing land laws, providing practical guidance through the entire process to mitigate risks.

Recognizing the criticality of a meticulous approach, we ensure clients are fully informed and aware of the potential scope of their transactions, minimizing unforeseen losses.

Catering to a diverse clientele, including those in the Diaspora, we aid in property location, investment, and thorough due diligence. From negotiating letters of offer to finalizing transactions, we guide clients throughout the process of property purchase and sale.

In our experience, the primary challenges plaguing the Kenyan real estate industry today are twofold: Integrity (its lack thereof) and Information (misinformation). At WKA, we bridge this gap by continuously educating our clients on the law and its developments. For instance, since December 2021, acquiring an apartment results in obtaining a Sectional Title Deed instead of a Long-Term Lease. This transformation means that owning an apartment now equates to owning a piece of land, providing a title deed usable as collateral for loans, an effect of the Sectional Properties Act No. 21 of 2020.

Our involvement in high-value real estate developments in Kenya includes projects such as Tatu City, Purple Haze, Siaya Park, and Diamond Homes.
